The
Molotschna River forms the western boundary of the colony and gave its name to the colony.
The river is small, some say smaller than it once was. It may have
represented more as a boundary with the Lutheran Germans to the west than as a body of
water. The name Molotschna is said to mean "milk" -- the milk river.
