We were unable to get to the villages of Ginger's Neufeld ancestors in Chortitza, but we did look for other Neufeld legacies.  One of distinction was the Neufeld Brewery. In Halbstadt, the Hermann Neufeld Bier und Essigbrauerei and Limonadenfabrik was established already in 1832, brewing mostly beer and vinegar.  Only the one building remains.  Because of a source of particularly good water, it was an ideal location.   Today they continue to make beer and to bottle water in Halbstadt.
